Statistical Construction
Free School meals, is a way for a school to determine the economic background of a child, without taking into consideration any other factor that may attribute to the success or failure of that child. The child is predisposed on account of their eligibility for free school meals, which will predetermine the rest of that childs education. Some may argue that in highlighting the economic class of a child, the right setting for the child's success can be applied, this however is all too often lost within our glabalised society. If the amount of capital eqautes to the amount of economic product, then it is wise to invest in those that are more likely to succeed and therefore the rest get left behind. Parental employment status, is another way for shools to determine the cultural capital that the child is likely to possess...this does not nesscarily mean that this is the case, but compartmenatlizatiobn is a globalizational factor, and once within these confines it is very diffucult but not impossible for a person to break free. As with most statistcal constructions, focused on humans, it cannot possibly convey the real manner of people, you cannot tar everyone with the same brush and expect them to have a modecum of applied reality to individual choice and practices.

Family structure, is a way to determine the amount of cultural and socail capital a child may have,. The marital status of the parents and the amount of children within a family is thought to have a bearing on the succes of the child. If they are from two parent families there is more income generated and thus more access to resources, also there is more time for the parent to give to their children. It then follows that if there are more children both time allocated to each child will diminish and the amount of resources will also decrease and therefore the chances of success of that child. School Attainment, is the means by which the government can determine the success or failure of the school. These are derived from exam achievement, in the form of league tables. Funding for schools is determined by these statistics, the better the school the better the funding. This however causes elitism, as is discussed in audit culture, and it also starts a viscous cycle of failing schools not getting the funding to achieve better attainment.
